History
1.0 Introduced in the Autumn 2007
We had for many years discussed that it might be useful to have shelves in machined aluminum. When we started to test this we did not really find them better than the wooden shelves. It was only when we combined these two that we made the progress that led to "Mimer". The image on the right shows the recessed underside, which is normally hidden by the underlying thin wooden shelf. Approximately 80% of the original material is removed, but saved and recycled.
1.5 2008
Damping material was changed from sheep’s wool to synthetic of the same type often found in speakers. Sheep’s wool is affected by humidity. Moreover, it took a long time before it stabilized for transport.
2.1 December 2009
The synthetic damper was replaced with damping pads on the top, and plates of plastic film on the bottom of wooden shelf.
The introduction of the tuning-film on aluminum shelves.
2.2 January 2010
Changing to double washers beetween wood and alumiuium.
2.3 February 2010
25% of the original damping from Mimer 1.5 is re-introduced.
Improvements compared with Mimer 1.5
More nuanced music reproduction
Less sensitive to changes in humidity
Less sensitive to the position of the equipment's feet
